Lucy Tilley, Adjaye Associates

When David Adjaye founded Adjaye Associates 25 years ago, he recognized that the world was designed for a particular type of person. Growing up with a younger brother who has disabilities gave him first-hand insight into the inequalities that persist in our built environment. This experience became a driving force for the practice, shaping the design philosophy from the very beginning, and continues to guide Adjaye Associates work in creating dignified pluralistic spaces. Their approach to design not only aims to improve the quality of life for everyone but also reflects a profound understanding of our shared responsibility toward the planet. In this keynote address, Lucy Tilley, CEO of Adjaye Associates' London studio, will explore how these values are put into practice. Drawing on projects such as the pioneering social housing initiative in Harlem and the recently completed interfaith community of the Abrahamic Family House in the UAE, Lucy will discuss themes of dignity, inclusion, unity, and the rediscovery of lost knowledge systems - critical elements in the pursuit of a sustainable future for all.
